We had a day-trip in mind, and a new Mitsubishi Outlander rental to use. so we headed south along the coast. Had to stop for a sticky-beak (peek) at our favorite deserted beach in the Wooyung Nature Reserve.
Pulled into the fish & chip place in Brunswick Heads to take pelican picture and parked in front of a butterfly bug bonnet (excellent vintage hippy artwork on a classic VW Beetle).
The Tuesday Plantation now has a snake warning sign for visitors in the parking area.
On to Ballina & the lighthouse beach area. New eatery right on the beach, so stopped for some wedges and a Toastie.Next time we come this way, we plan to eat at the Shawsy - Shaws Bay Hotel Shipwreck bar & Grill.
We did some back-road driving (some of it unintentional due to our ever so helpful Garmin GPS!) to get to Newrybar and Bangalow. Lovely goat tracks that were barely one lane wide, but, thankfully had solid shoulder for 2 way traffic! Then there was the bridge repair work! Bottom line: we did get home safely. Eventually. ;)
