A windblown unknown (to me, anyway) longhorn flying insect having a hard time walking on the beach. We, however, had a fine time on our beach walk!

Day-long traffic disruptions for a trial run of the bicycle race course planned for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. Access to the Sanctuary (and a lot of other businesses) was blocked and road closures and parking restrictions affected a large area of the southern Gold Coast. Of course I had to walk down to see for myself! I did not see a lot of race action, and definitely did not see a lot of visitors in CWS. Blinky Bill & his girlfriend, Nutsy, were looking happy to enjoy a slow day. I walked up to the observation deck on Elephant Rock for the views. beach walked to Kropp Park and then back up the hill home. Low tide beach walk at Tugun/Bilinga/North Kirra. Drove up to Harbour Town on errands and stumbled into a quite satisfying $5 breakfast! Friday arvo meal at Sanctuary Markets - I could not resist disturbing a mooching water dragon! The southward whale migration is almost over for this year, but we decided to drive up to Point Danger to see if we could see any. Boy, were we lucky! Still a bunch of small pods not too far off-shore. Then, when we went for lunch at PB SLSC, we were entertained by more whale activity (including being photo-bombed by a gull).
Went to Bunnings for something & noticed the Christmas kangaroo light set. Thanks to Barb & JJ for the ride and most excellent company on a trip to one of our favorite markets:
http://bangalowmarket.com.au/ We took the slow way home by way of a lonely fruit & veg stand and Wooyung Beach. Ah, the sunrises I expect to see here!
Our Miami market had the Halloween spirit! Friday afternoon beach walk (the first of this OZ stay) on the way to the Sanctuary Market for our early evening meal. It's not just a weekend thing anymore! Aah, the breakfast of true champions. :)
Do you ever feel like just throwing an axe? Well, now I know where to do it somewhat safely. A few movies, a few airplane meals & a few naps & we made it to Brisbane. Getting luggage & going through Border Security was a breeze. Train ride to the end of the line at Varsity Lakes was uneventful, but no pictures of the route as I could not see through all the rain on the windows!
