A fine winter day for lunch at Palm Beach SLSC with Dianne.

With only a few days left in this version of an Australia visit we are thinking ahead to our return next OzSummer. While contemplating another rosy sunrise we decided that today would be the day for a bus ride and to load enough money onto our Go Cards to be able to use them for train fares from Brisbane airport to Varsity Lakes Station when we return.
So, we rode the bus to Pac-Fair to check out the new parts. Of course we stopped at the beach on the way home! If you go for a walk in this park in the northern end of Gold Cast City you will have a good chance of seeing wild koalas - and an almost certainty of seeing wild eastern grey kangaroos! Coombabah Lake Conservation Park is an oasis of wilderness accessible from the Gold Coast Highway between Harbourtown and Helensvale. We did not get to see her portraits show in Byron Bay, but there is one of her works at Dust Temple on Currumbin Creek Road.
Sun came up & quickly warmed the bird bath water for the rainbow & scaly-breasted lorikeets. Walked down the hill to Currumbin Beach & up the stairs of Elephant Rock - good views in all directions. Checked out the major path improvements from Currumbin almost to the connector to Tugun. A darter dies it wings on my way back to climb our hill. Stick insect the CWS hospital fundraiser group brings to The Pines shopping center.
This being Friday, we went down the hill for supper at the Sanctuary Markets. We went a bit early so I could track down the Tawny frog-mouths & get some better pictures. Ate supper quickly & stopped at Currumbin Alley to gaze at the sunset on the way home. Yes, another long leisurely lunch at Palm Beach SLSC. I was sure that today was perfect for capturing the sand relocation boat spewing its load. I was sure disappointing when it went through all the posturing, but none of the action! We went for breakfast at Burleigh Heads SLSC for Spanish omelettes, and got more entertainment than usual in the form of an electric trike. |
