and a dead (dehydrated) spider outside.

Dawn beach-walk at Miami worked up an appetite for breakie at the Surfers Paradise SLSC - $10 buffet! One picture makes it look like LIVER'S kitchen, but it is really Oliver's.
As in Wahoo's Fish Taco Australia (https://www.facebook.com/wahoosfishtacoaustralia for those on Facebook). It has been a favorite of ours in Burleigh Heads for years.
After lunch we rummaged through some local shells & watched some surfing. Petrol (gas, gasoline) has finally come down under a dollar a liter here! Early morning walk fro Miami Beach to Burleigh Heads to see the morning crew from Chanel 7 'Sunshine' show broadcast live. Went to Evandale Park, Bundall to partake in some of the Gold Coast Australia Day festivities.
The 'doofer' is a cardboard hamburger holder from a cafe named Burgerfuel. This little stick insect (phasmid) came in on the eucalyptus branches I was feeding to the koalas. They eat the same food - totally vegetarian - so I do not mind at all when the climb on me. Except when one gets close to my eyes - then I find the cute little critter a new home!
Heavy rains most of the day. Grabbed our rain coats and went to downtown Surfers Paradise. Cavill Ave and the Esplanade were practically deserted. No one was around, so I hammed it up and took a selfie with my mate at the Haunted House. Gold Coast highway was part river, and our local school yard was part lake. The ducks were loving it.
The Sanctuary had to close at 2 PM today because of local flooding, and the regular Friday Market was canceled. After my beach walk, the forecast rains started. Saved the day by bus-tramming it to Harbour Town to watch the latest Hobbit movie. The true brightening of the day came when we bought a flat of large mangoes for $10!
CHEERS. :) There is SO much in the first picture: Elephant Rock, Currumbin Rock, downtown sky-scrapers, Jan, seagulls, beach, surf!
2nd pic is crazy snail track in sand - high art, I reckon. |
