Jan read about a good burger place in Sawtel, so that is where we had lunch today.
Then back to Nambucca's Shelly Beach for a low tide walk.
Re-familiarizing ourselves with our 'local' beaches. All good!

We missed a bullet last night! Our Nambucca Heads friends were at 'our' place on the hill for a short visit before we were to drive them to the airport when a massive storm cell came right over us. Extremely close bolts of lightning & house shaking thunder! I was a bit worried that we would be trapped on the wrong side of our neighborhood gate if the power went out (it has happened to us before). Fortunately the gate opened as we drove over the pressure sensors, but I found it a bit strange that a couple of vehicles were parked by the side of the gate and zoomed in as we left. There were power outages and not working traffic lights on the GC Highway, but we made it to the airport and our friends made their flight. We were driving their car & did not have our gate clicker with us - got to the gate control & the display & keypad were not powered! Light bulb! This is why cars were waiting to go in. I made an amazing discovery. My arms are long enough to reach the pedestrian exit button and the gate opened! Phew!!
But that is not today's story. We are diving south for a 2 week stay in Nambucca Heads. The service center at Chinderah has a huge floor to ceiling map of our coastal route. The visitor info place at Grafton has moved, but the lily-pad pond with turtles is still there. Digger's Beach at Coffs Harbour is still a favorite stop on this trip. A pair of Sooty oyster catchers wanted to keep a rock or two between them & me. There's the kind of sunrise I love!
Ooh, therre's the view of Surfers Paradise I love! Ooh, ooh, there's the Wahoo burgers I love!!! The battles wages at a friend's house! Ant-Rid is one weapon for the forces of good vs evilAnts. Although, at this stage it looks like it could be re-named Ant-Attract!
The outer decks at the Palm Beach SLSC had wet tables & chairs, but the food & the views were as good as ever.
A few degrees cooler & less humid sure makes a difference! Noon at Burleigh Heads Beach and it is quite pleasant.
Very comfortable seating for an early morning viewing of Black Panther (excellent!). The show let out in perfect time for us lunch at Tugun Tavern & then watch some waves after lunch.
