I was up at my regular time for one last beach walk (sigh) before loading the rental car and driving to Brisbane. There were no major dramas on the M1, so we got to Ace Car rentals' airport location with plenty of time to spare. Next stop - Vancouver. See you on the other side...

Packing today. Leaving early tomorrow.Time for a few more beach walks. I think I managed some really powerful photographs today.
A cloudy horizon, but another colorful start to the day.
The picture out of our bedroom window shows how close airplanes are on landing at OOL. Barry & Vi drove us up Tamborine Mountain for lunch at Eagle Heights Mountain Resort. Huge view of Gold Coast City. Food was huge too, and better than expected. Before leaving the area we went for a short walk to Curtis Falls, part of Tambourine Mountain National Park. Not many days of warm beach walking left for this trip down under, so you bet I was up to greet the dawn.
After brekkie we decided to visit Wooyung Nature Reserve one more time. Gad we did as we have never been here for a lower low tide. No buttons, but lots of things to look at on a very pleasant walk. Lunch was a bit further south at Brunswick Heads fish co-op. Usual morning walk. Picked up an Ace rental car & headed straight to Shelly Beach at Ballina. Lowest tide we have ever seen at this beach, with lots of shells & stones to look at. From there we headed inland to Lismore with 2 goals in mind: lunchat the Pie Cart, and to see if the Christmas tree made of old bicycles was in use this year. Success with pies, but the tree was recycled car tires this year.
However, we did find the bike tree at Clunes on hte way from Lismore to Bangalow! Brekkie at new Coolangatta eatery, Rockleigh, with Pat & Paul. We had a good catch-up & they showed us the old railway gap path that we knew about but had never reall figured out where it was.
A very spiky caterpillar, a mixed flock of little corellas & gallahs, and some flamboyant flowers. Kinda cloudy start to the day. I found a little grasshopper friend. Lunch after shift was at Currumbin RSL with my Tues AM team. The walked home via Currumbin Vikings SLSC. Went up the stairs at Elephant Rock for an elevated view.
Nice walk at sunup, except for the grocery bag full of other peoples garbage that I picked up along the beach.
Bused & trammed to Southport Library again to upload photos. I had a clear window seat, so I added more pictures to be considered for posting. |
