Riding my bike to work, I passed the set up for a surf carnival at Tugu Beach. During breaks from koalas I saw an intermediate egret and a rather robust water dragon. We are in a cycle of hot days developing evening thunder storms. Tonight brought a well developed storm cell over the hinterland.

Friday morning sleep in (to the crack of dawn!). Settled foe sunrise & beach views from the balconies. I walked down for our CWS volunteer Morning Tea - info session & nibblies. Jan met me after & we went to Palm Beach SLSC for lunch. The regular chicken snitzel for her, and because I had already had a light lunch I had calamari & hot chips.
Waiting for the bus, I had a little red stink bug visit me. Barely had time for a nap before we walked back to the Sanctuary Market for our evening tea. It was almost full dark by the time we walked home. Christmas lights in Tugun downtown lighted our way. December first is the first day of summer in Australia, and what a grand day it was! At the southern end of my dawn beach walk I stopped to record a few video clips so I can review the sight & sound of the surf when I am far removed from it. After breakfast I rode the bike down to Snapper Rocks & filmed some major waves crashing over the rocks & into the old swimming pools. I thought some foolish youths might get wiped out severely, but they were still OK when I left! Jill & Brendan picked us up & we went to Murwillumbah for lunch at the Austral Cafe and to visit The Grainery - a light fixture / antique & junk shop that we had not been to yet. We stopped off at fruit world but made a hasty exit after hearing storm warnings. At home, after the the first wave of storms went by, there was a full double rainbow over ther beach. |
