We basically had a half day to explore before returning the car & continuing on to our Night Flight to Venus (oops, I mean Vancouver).
Our erratic path took us to Narrowneck Beach, North Head, & up as far as Brown's Bay Beach.
'Good' car rental companies, here and in OZ, have prominent reminders of what side of the road to drive on. However, this one went a bit too far with a Japanese (?) greeting from the radio every time I turned the key on!. We basically had a half day to explore before returning the car & continuing on to our Night Flight to Venus (oops, I mean Vancouver). Our erratic path took us to Narrowneck Beach, North Head, & up as far as Brown's Bay Beach.

Three hour flight from Gold Coast, QLD, AUS to Auckland, NZ. We usually just connect here to a flight to Canada, but, due to a scheduling change by Air NZ, we are doing a one day layover. The airline put us up at the Jet Park Airport Hotel for the night. We rented a car from Ace in preparation for a half day of exploring before tomorrows flight.
so this is us de-parting from Gold Coast Airport. Very flowery Koala with Attitude in the departure lounge. Forgot to give-away or pack my pocket knife, so, farewell three dollar investment! Last Sunday of the month is the Bangalow Market (huge), and this is our last Sunday downUnder for a while. We had some cockie visitors to Barry's balcony, and then it was off south to Bangalow for a great day out with Jill & Brendan. Wanted to use our Go Cards today, so we bussed to Southport for lunch. Chinatown has been spiffed up a bit. Downtown Surfers in the off-season is still too busy for us. I spotted some CDN decals on a car as I rode the bus home.
ust a wee drive south to explore some beach access paths through the dunes that we have not done for a long time, if ever.
So many nice beaches! Is it any wonder I keep coming back? (rhetorical ?) Jan could not leave the Gold Coast without at least one visit to The Lady in the Hat in the Broadwater Parklands.
Another excellent & cheap lunch at Wahoos in Burleigh Heads, followed by shell searching. New butcher located by the Post Office up Currumbin Creek Road. Painted the garbage bin corral at Barry's. Iced coffees and a catch-up with friends at GGs in Kirra.
Midday and then evening beach walks. Found a little mermaid and lots of surfers. Lights on the bloody plastic poppies at Elephant Rock set for Anzac Day service coming up on Monday. After my last shift at CWS for this go-round, we went to Tower 9 -Tugun SLSC for lunch and then a beach walk.
