Typical start to the day, with me greeting the Dawn on the beach. Then Thor picked us up for a drive out west from the Gold Coast. Beaudesert, Boonah to Warwick for lunch. Back via Killarney and Woodenbong to be home before the NYE celebrations.

The early morning beach walk was solo, but, seeing as how Jan got a new camera to replace one she dropped, we walked to Burleigh Heads for breakfast, and then bused to the Sanctuary for her to test out the new equipment. These are my pictures as I was providing moral support. ;)
The last picture - the big mixing bowl: mangoes were on sale! That is $3 worth. Yum! The main entrance to the Southport Library.
The G:Link rails taken from the pedway to Australia Fair . Surf board holder on the tram - rubber slot on floor and a clamp behind the seat. That's not an ironing board in the background! ;) We spotted a rather large snail partially exposed in the beach sand. Jan picked it up to play with, and before too long, we figured out that we had interrupted its dinner! As a survival strategy, it released the pipi (clam) it was working on to flee.
but not the typical white Christmas some people dream of. There were white things in my day, but none of them were freezing.
Early morning beach walk No, I am still not tired of the views!), and then a long bike ride down to The Spit. Lots of Chrissy beach picnics along the way.Time for beach selfies and attempts at 'artsy' shots. After that it was time for prawns & potato salad on our balcony & some major relaxation. Glaucus nudibranchs (YAY), and more little blue jellies. The writing in the sand at Jan's feet says Merry Christmas! I forgot this other blue thing - a blue-faced honey-eater.
An early morning beach walk, what could be better? An after breakfast bike ride along the beach paths!
The palm trees are outside our apartment. The gardeners removed that whole truckload of palm-fruit from them. What are the bats & the birds going to do now??? Today is brought to you by the color blue. From the start of my day, to the end of my evening beach walk. blue things seemed to be everywhere. I don't know what to call the little blue jellies, but they sure are cute.
Shared breakfast fruit with a currawong on our balcony.
Early evening arrival of fruit bats (flying foxes) that come to eat the palm fruits in our pool courtyard. They squabble all night long! |
