Went out at high tide today. Not nice for beach walking, but good for watching waves & slooshes at Snapper Rocks.

Just a short video of geckos hunting bugs outside the window. More yellow-tailed black cockatoo silhouettes, top pics from the dawn flyby, and the last shots from the dusk flyby.
In between we did a total public transportation excursion. Bus to Broadbeach. G-LINK all the way to Helensvale. Four new stops on the recently extended light rail along the Gold Coast. One can now connect to the other train system and ride the rails to Brisbane & beyond! Gratuitous product placements for Dan Murphy. Bargain bins for wine! And I continue to be greatly amused by the art & humour of booze label makers. Black birds that fly in the dark, and screech like soft-spoken hawks! Who knew? This week we have had dawn & dusk flybys of a flock of yellow-tailed black cockatoos. They never seem to fly past here in good light. Thus, I get a lot of silhouettes. After the birds were long gone, the sun poked through the gum trees.
Mermaid, Miami, North Burleigh, - and smack in the middle, the knob at Nobby! Also called (by me at least!) the observation deck, the stairs at Nobby, Little North Burleigh Head. Anyway, this was our home beach back in 2009 - 2011. It is mostly the same, but the buildings are bigger and the size of the seasoned potato wedges served at the Nobby Beach SLSC are smaller!
There was a bit of pink sunrise over the coastal cloud-bank this morning. Lots of lorikeet birdbath action again (see videos). I walked down the hill & found some harlequin beetles, gum tree flowers, and some young brush turkeys. |
