I drove the long, scenic way to work this morning & noticed that work is already underway on Elephant Rock to add 10,000 or so red plastic poppies for the Anzac Day dawn service. The rest of the pictures are rust, taken on breaks by the gum shed & volunteer office.

Jimboomba. Say it slowly. Savor the flavor of the sounds on your tongue. Jim-boooooom-baaaaaa!
Great rural market. Veg & fruit plus lots of plants & trees for gardeners. A bit of nice woodworking and LOTS of metal art. Glad we searched it out. Then we carried on to Yatala (don't say the middle 'a' or folks around these parts won't know what you are trying to say) for Tradie pies with gravy & chips for lunch. Joys of the off-season: finding a space to park in the little lot at the very end of Currumbin Creek Road the entrance to the Mount Cougal section of Springbrook National Park. Cascades/ waterfalls, an old sawmill, and a possum in a tree.
Sunset is from Barry's side of Currumbin Ridge. Need I say more?
Oh, maybe abut the last pic. PERFECT solution to security & safety while at the beach/ in the water. Nice bit of sky color to start the day. After the laundry was done we still had time to drive to Harbour Town and back to Nobbys Beach SLSC for lunch. Is it any wonder I need an afternoon nap? Anyway, I was curious about the flag being flown at Nobbys'. A quick wiki-search revealed it to be the Queensland flag: "A light blue Maltese cross with a crown on a white background in the fly of a British blue ensign."
Another glorious start to a day.Brekkie/coffees with Anna & Marc at Palmie. Afterwords, because we had exerted SO much (NOT) we went for drinks up Telebugerra Creek Road, and Anna showed ud where the big RSPCA main Op-shop is located. That's where I found the rusty saws. We came back to the coast vie the Man on a Bike shopping place, and then had a long beach walk with lots of 'blue things'. Well, it seems that way sometimes. Slow picture day. This was my supper from the Sanctuary Market. Spicy chicken karaage with rice & salad. Drizzled with a creamy mayo sauce. I'm sure it was much, much tastier than the moths that the geckos in the little video clip were eating! Stopped to admire this herd of longhorns along the road to Murwillumbah.
Put me in the mood for a works burger at the Austral Cafe in downtown M'bah. Went to Tropical Fruit World and got some custard apples (apple custards?) and a bit of cleaned Jackfruit. Back at the Sanctuary, that is a Stimson's python that I am wearing around my neck! Well, the gull was more interested in my roast lamb for lunch than the beach, but we left it at the tavern & went for a stroll in the sand. As always, we keep an eye out for beach-buttons.
It was a slack day for this life saver, even though the water temperature is holding at 26C! |
