Crescent moon & sunrise whales.
Walked the beach to attend the CWS Volunteers' morning tea. We took the bus to Robina so Jan could get Nespresso pods - I took pictures out the window. Morning balcony rituals - first light & sunrise gazing. Then we witnessed some very active whale groups. Later, while on a late afternoon beach walk we found a dead Harlequin Beetle and got close to some noisy Corellas Early morning beach walk was a nice start to a fine day. Bikes with really big fat tires are becoming more popular on the sand, as are stand up paddle boards on the sea. Had a mid-day visit from a kookaburra - nice to see as we do not often notice them by the shore. On our afternoon walk I disturbed a little snail in the beach sand, and Jan found the teeniest of all puffer-fish. I found a fresh button in the sand just before we left the beach to go to the Currumbin Street Food Market for an early supper. Some guys just never grow up!
Wind-blown clouds at sunrise.
Whales nearby at breakfast on the balcony. Chicken snitzel lunch at Palm Beach Surf Club. YUM! And then discovered a new pub & eatery above the bike shop. Another time! Coincidence or cause & effect? - Lots of whale activity earlier, and now lots of weed & suck washed ashore. More wind-blown storm clouds for sunset. |
