After this totally nuclear dawn, I had a blast working a shift with the koalas (see other page).

Another brilliant sunrise.
Because we had no WiFi at the apartment we walked to JJ's for breakie muffins. They have some nice dot painting as part of the decor. Caterpillar & spiders on the walk home. Took the bus to Palm Beach School stop & walked the boardwalk to get over to the festivities. Saw a fig-bird in a tree & a black winged stilt in the shallows. The silly Masked Lapwings (plovers) were nesting at the very edge of the parking lot for the Currumbin RSL, where hundreds of people are coming today for the inaugural Vintage Eat Boutique Markets Gold Coast Currumbin. We went into the RSL & sat on the patio to eat a ham & egg pizza (thin crust & yummy), before heading on to the Buskers' Festival. We walked home along Currumbin Alley & the beaches home, but I must have been too pooped to take any pictures! It was a beautiful start to the day. Sunrise was nice. Then we used the last of our expensive resort WiFi. We were frugal, but we just couldn't stretch it any further. We were only going to be in the beach-front apartment for 3 more days, so we decided to do without, rater than pay those short term rates. Thus, breakfast at Maccas.
Found a real estate business card on the sidewalk (foot path here) and it had deep philosophy on the back. Some pictures out the bus window on the ride home, then I rode/ walked/pushed the bike up the hill to park it at our next residence. I decided to not just walk home, but to cut through CWS to take a train ride to the main entrance & then bus home from there. Jan & I found a fair sized beach sand snail when we walked the beach back to CWS for an early supper at the Friday Sanctuary Market. Jeska's artwork advertises the Halloween market in 2 weeks. Storm on the horizon kind of sunrise.
Morning bike ride to Coolie. I tried to ride back along the Bilinga to Tugun corridor, as GCC Mayor Tom Tate claims it is free of encroachments, encumbrances & obstacles to public use. Hello!? Ground control to Mayor Tom! I'd like to share a dictionary with you. Rust. More rust. Lunch at Tugun SLSC, with surf close & sails in the distance. Salt & pepper squids for me. Long beach walks home before crashing early. Like, WOW, how cool is this?! Sitting on the balcony with my morning coffee, looking for whale splashes out to sea, and right up close, fishing between the wave, are a group of dolphins. We see that fairly often, but, we have never witnessed them SURFING before!
We went to Southport Library again to upload some more pictures. Had Vietnamese lunch at Australia Fair. I took picture out the Tram & bus on the ride home, including shots of the signs & grandstands being prepared for the big road race coming to the city soon. Had a lovely supper out at Oz Thai in Palm Beach with super lovely friends Jill & Brendan. Colorful sunrise with whales, sea eagles, people & pets.
A good shift at CWS followed by a team lunch at Currumbin Vikings SLSC. Just before sundown we were treated to a fairly intense double rainbow. Being retired means Monday is the first day of the week when all the workies and students are not all into MY space, so, BRING IT ON! Pretty decent sunrise, plus an entertaining bird on a lamp globe. This tree is all new flowers & old seed pods - just no leaves ATM. Monday is pork roast with krackling, potatoes & veg Roast Day - yum! That fueled a trip up Currumbin Hill. The glass piece is my SC Cockatoo in place at the Loft. Walking home, real SC Cockatoos were pecking on the lawns - just like chickens! Colorful start to the day, before heading off to CWS to work with koalas all day.
(Quick, chick on the other page!) Glad rays this morning. It's Saturday, so the life savers are out early for the nippers. We bused to Burleigh Heads to wander through the morning market. Had burgers at Wahoo for lunch, & the walked be beach a bit looking for shells. Sunrise was totally obscured by cloud, but a little later a ray of hope shone down.
The metal whale sculpture is in Tweed Heads, and the new large koala in a Blinky Bill outfit is now by the entrance to the Sanctuary Market. |
