Two big male water dragons in breeding color test each other. The video is, well, I have to admit to bias, but, pretty darn goood.
It was some kind of jumping spider. I knew that for sure when it jumped onto my camera lens! Two big male water dragons in breeding color test each other. The video is, well, I have to admit to bias, but, pretty darn goood.

A brahminy kite feeding on fish kept me amused on my early morning walk. It was a nice, not too windy morning, so I took the 2 wheeler for a ride. One turn lead to another & I wound up across from The Pines. One of the turns took me over the freshly re-constructed bike/pedestrian bridge beside the M1.
We walked the beach both to & from the Friday Sanctuary Market for supper. The pod of dolphins was feeding just offshore. Bobble-head early morning beach walk. head on a swivel, nowhere is a bad place to look. Sun rises from the water. Full moon sets over the hinterland. Waves & shells & stuff on the beach to see when I'm not gazing elsewhere.
Lorikeets have come to see us on our balcony. They liked the pear slices we offered them, but were nonplussed with our bowl of water. Went to Wahoo for lunch. My 3 fish tacos, Jan's Burleigh burger, and a shared bowl of hot chips, all for only $18 left us stuffed & happy. The Lifeline op-shop on the same block has an interesting pricing concept. After we bused home we went for a beach walk and found primo roses for Jan, and sat & watched a lad fishing from his paddle baord. I walked the beach down to Elephant Rock before 'work' this morning to catch the super-moon setting.
First things first. I started my day with a bike ride down to Greenmount. That worked up an adequate appetite for a chicken snitzel lunch at PB SLSC. Then we tried to burn off some of the extra calories with a beach walk after buying more tickets on a Bilinga Dream home apartment building.
Took our beach chairs down near the surf to wait for the moon to rise from the sea. Not a lot different from any other full moon rising out of the sea, IMHO. But it was a good excuse to be on the beach some more! Angry looking skies this morning. Went to the Coolangatta Market before heading to Isle of Capri for lunch with Anna & Marc. Walked to the beach at Surfer's Paradise before catching the train back to the lovely part of the southern Gold Coast we like to call home.
I use reflections in the building next to us to check sunrise colors. Then I usually go for a dawn beach walk - regardless of what I saw. This was Friday - so , another early supper at Sanctuary Markets, and once again, met Barry & Violet there. Walked home on the footpath beside the beach.
I'm not entirely sure why I'm channeling Jethro Tull lyrics right now, But looking at this selection of pictures has my inner voice singing 'It was a new day yesterday, but it's an old day now'!
Stormy start to what I anticipate will be an exciting day for me, working a new round as a wildlife volunteer at CWS (see other page). Had one critter on our balcony in the evening. Turns out to be a mole cricket. Who knew. Not me! |
