A quiet early morning dog-walk before going to the monthly CWS volunteers breakfast at the Currumbin RSL. Then a nice stroll from there to Buskers By The Creek at Winders Park.
The whole southern Gold Coast seemed to be busier than usual, so we headed out of town the back way, up Tomewin Mountain Road. Wound up at Tropical Fruit World , bought a bucket of avocados for &10, and then wandered down their Magic Garden Avenue, which we had never explored before. The route home included a stop at Wooyung Beach. Aah, the benefits of being part of the volunteer community - in this case, free Papaya (paw-paw) from a vollie with a tree.
Back yard (canal side of house) - black swans, pee-wees (pied larks), & both dogs.
Rainbow in our neighborhood on the way to supper at the Sanctuary Markets - shared Golzemi tonight. The first collage is from SOuthport School, on our way to Main Beach for a bit of a sandy walk. Saw a convoy of beach patrol going through training. Duck fat & virgin coconut oil - grocery shelves here are not like those in Canada! I always like seeing the rather large model airplane in the entrance to the hotel in Australia Fair shopping center. My first bike ride exploring my local canal neighborhoods. Made it as far as Bermuda Street. Will venture to the marine-side paths as time & weather (esp. wind!) permit. A flock of ibis feeding in the shallows of a local canal.
A nice rusty windmill on one of our dog walks. Friar birds - hard to believe it is a honey eater, not a carrion scavenger! Took pies from Fosters to the beach to eat lunch. Pandanas - unusual tree & fruit (well, unusual to a guy used to northern temperate vegetation). Morning dawn-walk dog-walk. Little blue fairy wren on the lawn at home.
Breakie at Maccas on the road, Chinderah truck-stop. From Bangalow, turn toward Lismore at the traffic circle and follow the signs and crowds heading to the 40th aniversary of the Channon Market. After driving for half an hour on narrow back-roads, and a walk through cow-patties in the parking pasture, we got in a good walk around before the rains started. It seems to be much like the Bangalow Market, but in a more remote location. Headed back to the coast to Ballina and did a brief walk at our favorite lbeach there, Shelly Beach. On to Lennox Head for lunch at the Surf Club - MONSTER works-burger! |
