The wallaby experience is getting better as one came to the path to eat out of my hand today!
Tree kangaroo joey is growing nicely.
Construction noises had the greys on alert this morning - which was good as they were not all up in their rest area. The wallaby experience is getting better as one came to the path to eat out of my hand today! Tree kangaroo joey is growing nicely.

My last Sunday wildlife volunteer shift for this Australian stint! It rained overnight, so the koalas were wet & hunched into balls on branches. That didn't stop me from shamelessly snapping selfies whenever I got a chance - basically whenever I could get a hand free to use my camera. There was a special event, as one of the ladies appeared to be in the process of having a baby! I did not see it, but the potential new mama was in the proper position & licking the fir between the womb & the pouch for about 2 hours. Keeper Amanda graciously gave me time to go help with the pelican & giant eel feeding, and thankfully, Keeper Jordan was keen to let me have a go. Even better, Shawna (a TAFE student I had worked a few shifts with in Koala Photos) was there to observe, and when I asked, she agreed to take some pictures with my camera. The last picture is of the Chrissy lunch with the Sunday AM park volunteer team. I managed to get TWO videos of Koalas jumping! And I took a quick clip of Avon, licking the Path to the Pouch for her new Joey. Hopefully!. I should find out when I get back in February. :) Rainbow \lorikeets. Kangaroo paw (flowering shrub). Water dragon. Emu. Red kangaroos. Videos on an echidna in action and a red kangaroo Joey getting back into mom's pouch! Feel free to ooh & aah as you scroll through cute koala pictures to get to some pretty amazing video clips of koalas NOT sleeping! First day of summer here and things are heating up. The emus are cooling off in the slow flowing water that they help stir up the mud. Joeys are always cute, but this red kangaroo is really starting to show off his ability to get around outside of mom's pouch. So far, I have only seen the swamp wallaby Joey's head sticking out of the pouch. As I have never seen a little one out exploring, I will try to spend more quality time in the Wallaby Experience in the next couple of weeks. |
