But, never fear, I got a couple of really interesting videos of a couple of boy koalas reacting to the scent of a couple of girl koalas!
I didn't take any still pictures of koalas during my whole shift! Other species hijacked my usual Sunday post - bilbies, a spider & an egret get the highlights today. But, never fear, I got a couple of really interesting videos of a couple of boy koalas reacting to the scent of a couple of girl koalas!

I got my Piggy & Piglet (Echidna & puggle) T-shirt from Arkadia, so I just HAD to model it at the CWS hospital. (Who am I to pass up a chance to take selfies?)
Well, after walking down the hill to do this, of course I had to wander around the Sanctuary taking more critter pictures. King parrot male. Bilby. Salty. Eastern grey kangaroos. Duck family. Red neck wallaby. Keeper Sarah's "pet" ibis, driving. Bleeding heart dove. Emu. Red kangaroos with joeys. A little green jumping spider on my hat then my arm. Difficult to photograph as it keeps jumping onto the camera. A tree at the CWS entrance has interesting fruit - I believe it is a type of tamarind.
No spider. SPIDER! Intermediate egret and Australian white ibis. I find it hard to believe myself, but, I think I was too busy at "work" to take many pictures today! First shift back with these guys. Lots of volunteer & staff help today, so time for selfies & an early pass. Saturday morning. Scattered showers. Walked down the hill & went to see some of my furry friends before the crowds arrived from the lorikeet feeding. One of the park improvements from before Christmas is the addition of train station fencing to force people to line up & wait for other guest to exit, and then board in a somewhat orderly manor.
I took lots of pictures in the koala nursery, and the wallabies were more cooperative than I usually see them. Two feature birds today: emu & eagle. Some changes. We now have bats on display! The parrot walk-through exhibit looks almost ready to populate. And the new Education precinct is alos showing signs of soon-ness. Took a bunch of short videos of unique Aussie animals. Have a look! Aboard Air NZ from Auckland. Snapped this picture from my window during final approach to Coolangatta airport. Maybe we (volunteers) should all wave at every plane that flies over the Sanctuary, like we do to passengers on our trains!?
