A quick walk by Koala Photos, and then on to the rest of the park. Along the way I saw a wild brush turkey snuggled into a dust-bowl nest/rest. These birds are a bid of a pest around the park, especially when they scratch twigs and branches for their nest mounds across the train tracks.
I took the picture of the fresh water crocodile in the sand just to show the tail-trail foot-prints, then I notices the eggs on the grass beside the sand pile. Turns out that 2 females were laying clutches in this little space, and the second one had booted the first ones eggs out!. I posted a couple of video clips of keepers trying to collect eggs and getting chased by protective croc moms to my YouTube Channel (OzBobo). Tree kangaroos were looking good in the sun today, and the emu chick is really growing up quickly. The spider is really a small one - I had to crop the picture severely to see details. The next picture, under the rock shelf, is my first ever sighting of a quokka! I anticipate getting better pictures of this species soon. The Australiana Show AKA the sheep-shearing show, featuring merino sheep. I do work hard in Koala Photos on Saturdays. Honest! At least I do when I'm not taking pictures or just admiring. First through the gate - bam - koala kiddies! The saunter through the Forest Fringe Aviary - Wonga pigeon and then the even stranger Topknot pigeon. The bottom paddock has roos, swamp wallabies, brush-tailed wallabies, crested pigeons, duck families, & emus. Walking past sleeping Tasmanian devils, & dingos, I also see wild birds - buff-banded rail & pied cormorant.
Yellow shirt, green broad-rimmed hat = I'm a Park Volunteer again. My regular shift this time is Sunday mornings. There are lots of changes in the park, but the basics are the same and it took me no time at all to get up to speed.
It's all about the koalas. Well it's mostly about the baby (joey) Koalas. Cuteness factor through the roof! |
