And I too some pictures of some birds in the Forest Fringe Aviary on my way to help out with the Pelican and Giant Eel Feeding on Wild Island.
Last pic I think is a small cockroach that was hitch-hiking on some koala food (gum leaves).
Another day where I got to be with some koala moms & bubs!

First shift back as a Park Volunteer. Stopped at the conservation aviaries on my way to sign in. I spent my day in the kangaroo & wallaby paddocks, and riding around on the train as the official last seat guard. And videos of koala joeys! One might rightly conclude from this post that I did not do too much serious work on my first shift back helping out at Koala Photos. Fortunately, there were many hands to make the load light. The Cape Berrens Geese are a new addition to the entry area, and the perentine is a new(ish) lizard in the old bilby enclosure. I also had time to go help with the eel feeding and managed to get the camera out for some shots of the intermediate egret in breeding plumage. And more koalas! I met with the Volunteer Managers today to discuss my shifts for the next 3 months. I will keep on my Park-Vol Tues AM crew, but change-up my Wildlife-vollie duties just a little and switch to helping out at Koala Photos on Saturdays.
I had to cut short my post-meeting stroll through the Sanctuary when the rain got too heavy to keep my cameras out. I'll let the pictures I did take tell the story... |
