The added value duty today was to 'fluff-up' the substrate in a couple of enclosures. Hard yakka, but four vollies got it done!
Bonus pics: butterfly and Plumeria out front are blooming now.
The little joey in Koala Habitat is getting bigger, quick, and is starting to be out more. The added value duty today was to 'fluff-up' the substrate in a couple of enclosures. Hard yakka, but four vollies got it done! Bonus pics: butterfly and Plumeria out front are blooming now.

The lorikeets are still full-on at the morning feeds. Happy place! Did some meet & greet at the entrance. Saw Blinky Bill & some other sleepier koalas. Did a walk-past at Pelican Beach. Hints of what the renewed roo paddock will look like. Stroll through wallaby enclosure. Sitting, preening emu. Red kangaroos with joeys in pouches. Worked the bird show & then went back to kangaroos via the koala nursery. Five short videos. Insider info! I may not ever get to know them all as individuals, but I use a cheat-sheet to at least associate enclosure numbers with the koalas housed in each.
Happy Bob with happy birds. Lorikeet numbers are still high, as is the resulting noise level. A lot of my morning time was in with the kangaroos & wallabies.
Another morning in the eastern reserve helping to care for the koalas on this side of the sanctuary. Today's work assignments: Rainbow lorikeet arena for morning feeding. Kangaroos & wallabies. Lost Valley. Land of Parrots.
Back at it again! It has been over 2 1/2 years since I helped care for these guys & gals. Less changes here than in the park in general, so it was easy to get with the program one more time.Highlights today (besides new & old friends!) were being chased by one girl who might have climbed me like a tree, and a little bonding time with Humbug.
Thirty-two months since my last shift! (Damn you, Covid and variants) Change is a constant at the Sanctuary. I did keep up via the Newsflashes, but it is not the same as being here - I have a lot NEW to get familiar with. But I'm back in my happy place - the lorikeet arena. The birds were full-on this morning - until a downpour chased everyone away. Hopefully, these pics & vids will tell the rest of the story.
